Phyllostachys - bambusoides cv. White Crookstem
This is another rare cultivar of Phyllostachys bambusoides. Like slender crookstem it also has a tendency to curve in a serpentine manner. The culms develop a white powdery covering as they age. It grows to 48 feet in heigh and 3 inches in diameter. A good grower. Recently flowered and recovered.

Phyllostachys - bissetii, David Bisset Bamboo
A rare bamboo just recently introduced into cultivation. Grows to 22 feet in height with diameters to 1 inch. Bissetii Bamboo is a prolific producer of culms and should be outstanding for screens and hedges. The leaves of P. bissetii are serveral shades darker than most bamboos in the Phyllostachys family, and seem to have a sheen to them. The leaves also tend to fold or twist slightly toward the tips. Bissetii is an early sprouter.

Phyllostachys - bissetii 'dwarf'
A fine bamboo growing to about 12 feet in height. It appears to be a dwarf version of the larger Bisset Bamboo which grows to 23 feet in height. Dwarf Bissetii is a vigorous growing bamboo which produces an abundance of small culms which turn almost yellow in the full sun. It makes a very good hedge bamboo and is also good for erosion control. A favorite Bamboo of Steve Ray, Jr. who has used it to good effect in his landscaping

Phyllostachys - decora
From the Hoi-wai Monastery, Kiansu Province, China where it is called "Mei Chu" (Beautiful Bamboo). Its culms grow to 23 feet in height with diameter to 1 ¼ inches. The older culms that have been growing in full sunlight look as if they have been shellacked. A very pretty bamboo.

Phyllostachys - dulcis, Sweetshoot Bamboo
Culms grow up to 40 feet in height with diameters to 2½ inches. Sweetshoot bamboo is a very fast grower in warm climates. Culms are strongly tapered, often curved, and sometimes finely striped with cream or light green. Brown or black spotting usually develops where the culm is exposed to bright sunlight. Dulcis is a very pretty bamboo with its curved spotted culms and large bright green leaves. the new shoots are of excellent quality and are highly esteemed in Central China where is called "vegetable bamboo"

Phyllostachys - flexuosa, Zig-Zag Bamboo
An erect growing bamboo with culms reaching 30 feet in height with diameters to 1 ¾ inches. Culms sometimes grow in a zig-zag manner - flexed most often toward the tip. Flexuosa produces an abundance of culms and is excellent for screens.

Phyllostachys - glauca
A pretty bamboo, new culms of Phyllostachys glauca are bluish in color because of a distinctive white powdery covering. It is drought resistant and withstands poor soil. Glauca can reach 34 feet in height and 2 inches in diameter

Phyllostachys - heteroclada
A rare erect growing bamboo which reaches over 30 feet in height and 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Older culms have masses of leaves which make it very good for hedges and screens. P. heteroclada is sometimes known as "water bamboo" due to its tolerance of waterlogged soils.

Phyllostachys - heteroclada purpurata
One of the smaller Phyllostachys, its slender culms tend to zig-zag and bend to the ground under the weight of rain or in a strong wind. Its striking young shoots can grow to 18 feet in height and ¾ inch in diameter.

Phyllostachys - heteroclada cv. Solid Stem
Solidstem is a small rare bamboo which grows to about 18 feet
in height. The lower one half or more of the culm is solid. Solidstem
makes fine hedges and screens with its masses of bright leaves.
Good in pots and planters.

Phyllostachys - humilis
Although P.humilis is widely grown in central Japan, it is a relatively new bamboo in the U.S. It is one of the smaller growing Phyllostachys bamboos reaching 15 to 20 feet with diameters of 1 inch. Humilis is a vigorous growing bamboo and is great for privacy screens and hedges. It is cold hardy to 0° F.
